Tinubu Leaves for Europe Before the Sustainability Summit in Abu Dhabi

President Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe ahead of his participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, following an invitation from the President of the UAE.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe to enjoy his end of year break, prior to an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates.

On Sunday, the State House released a statement indicating that the President departed Nigeria on December 28 to prepare for his involvement in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The press release states, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Lagos on Sunday, December 28, for Europe, continuing his end of year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.”

The statement revealed that President Tinubu is participating in the summit at the invitation of the UAE leader, highlighting that “His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has invited President Tinubu to take part in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week ADSW 2026 Summit.”

The weeklong event, set to take place in early January in Abu Dhabi, unites global leaders from diverse sectors to engage in discussions on sustainable development.

The presidency described the summit’s focus, stating, “with the theme ‘The Nexus of Next All Systems Go’, ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence.”

The statement indicated that President Tinubu is anticipated to return to Nigeria following the conclusion of the summit.

The press release bears the signature of Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and is dated December 28, 2025.
