Jota’s sons will accompany the mascots at Anfield when Liverpool plays Wolves

Liverpool announced on Friday that Diogo Jota’s two boys will be joining the mascots at Anfield for Saturday’s Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Portuguese forward Jota, who was a member of both Premier League teams, and his younger brother perished in a car accident in northwest Spain in July. He was twenty-eight.

Jota moved permanently to Wolves the next year after joining on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017. After winning the league title earlier this year, he then inked a five-year contract with Liverpool in 2020.

For the first time since Jota’s passing, Liverpool and Wolves will play on Saturday.

Rute Cardoso, Jota’s wife, and her two boys, Dinis and Duarte, attended the August Premier League home openers for Wolves and Liverpool.

After his passing, Liverpool also permanently retired his number 20 jersey.
