Draper’s injury will keep him from the Australian Open

Jack Draper, a British player, said on Friday that he will not participate in the Australian Open next month due to his ongoing recuperation from an injury.

Due to bone damage in his left arm, Draper, ranked 10th in the world, had to retire from the U.S. Open’s second round in August.

“Unfortunately, my team and I have made the decision not to travel to Australia this year. In a video uploaded on X, the British number one stated, “It’s a really, really tough decision.”

The 24-year-old plans to return in February and get ready to defend his Indian Wells championship in March.

“This injury has been the most difficult and complex of my career,” said Draper. It’s strange, but it always seems to strengthen my fortitude. I’m excited to compete again in 2026.”
Melbourne will host the start of the Australian Open on January 18.
