Netanyahu To Nigerian Government: Attacks Must Stop Immediately, Persecution Of Christians Cannot Continue
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has stated that there would be no tolerance for religious violence and that the persecution of Christians in Nigeria must stop.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, emphasized on Wednesday that atrocities against Christians in Nigeria by Muslim militants must stop immediately and that persecution of Christians or people of any other religion cannot and must not be permitted.
Netanyahu offered a powerful Christmas message from the Holy Land on Wednesday, highlighting Israel’s commitment to defending Christians in the Middle East and denouncing religious persecution globally, in a video that was broadcast on his handle on X, the former name of Twitter.
“I send warm greetings to our Christian friends around the world from Jerusalem,” he stated. I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year. Netanyahu stated, “From here, the Holy Land, Israel, the only Middle Eastern nation where the Christian community is flourishing.”
“Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Christians can practice their faith with full rights and in total freedom,” he stated, highlighting Israel as a safe refuge for Christians.Where Christian pilgrims are welcomed and greatly valued. where Christians can openly and fearlessly celebrate their customs with pride.
Netanyahu made a comparison between developments in the region and Israel’s support for Christians. The city municipality of Jerusalem formally distributes Christmas trees each year. For twenty years, it has been doing this.
In contrast, Palestinians burned a Christmas tree in the Holy Redeemer Church in the Palestinian town of Jenin a few days ago. That is the distinction. Israel defends Christians throughout the region. wherever they are frequently persecuted and intimidated.
Concern over the dwindling Christian populations in nearby nations was something he voiced. “Although the number of Christians in Israel is increasing, systematic discrimination and oppression have caused the Christian population in many parts of the region to decline.”Iraq has experienced this. It took place in Syria. It took place in Lebanon. It took place in Turkey. Additionally, the Palestinian Authority is where it is taking place.
“The birthplace of Jesus, Bethlehem, used to have 80% Christian population,” he continued, recalling Bethlehem. We were there at that time. It has since decreased from 80% to 20% after we departed and turned it over to the Palestinian Authority.
“I’m sending Israel’s Christmas blessings to our Christian friends around the world,” Netanyahu said in closing. And please know that Israel will always be on your side.
