Customers Take Note: Over 60,000 Nissan and Infiniti SUVs Are Recalled Due to a Software Bug That Turns Off Backup Cameras

Recall notifications may soon be sent to drivers of a number of Nissan and Infiniti SUVs after a technical issue with rearview camera operation sparked safety concerns. After learning that a software issue can prevent the rearview camera image from showing when the car is put in reverse, Nissan is recalling over 60,000 vehicles.

Model-year 2025 Nissan Armada and Murano SUVs, as well as 2025 and 2026 Infiniti QX80 models, are impacted by the recall, according to Cars.com. Nissan’s luxury division is called Infiniti. The business claims that the problem is caused by a software glitch in the in-vehicle infotainment system that might happen when the car is starting up. The fault may prevent the rearview camera display from activating, which would restrict the driver’s ability to see behind them.

The absence of rearview cameras, a legally mandated safety equipment, raises the possibility of collisions, particularly in confined places or pedestrian-heavy regions. Nissan claims to be fixing the problem by upgrading the software for the infotainment system. Depending on the car, the free patch can be applied in-person at a dealership or via an over-the-air transmission.
