Michael B. Jordan Discusses the Creed Franchise’s Future
The 38-year-old actor, who directed his first film in 2023 with Creed 3, is still hoping to play Adonis Creed again in the Rocky spin-off series.
“Eventually, definitely,” he said to Variety when asked if there would be a fourth installment. I’ve received a lot of kindness from this franchise. I adore MGM, Irwin Winkler, and all of their endeavors. I believe there’s a little more to be discovered in that. Do I want to spend the next fifteen years boxing in a ring? Not at all. Along with some introductions to some new characters I have in mind, I believe there are some innovative ways and intriguing characters we’ve developed that we might want to see where that leads. I may yet have a chance to have a few more extremely strong swings at the franchise.
But for now, Michael is content that other aspects of the narrative are receiving more attention.
We’re spinning off working on Adonis’s daughter, Amara’s tale, and the TV series that Amazon has picked up,” he stated. You will therefore be witnessing various regions of what I like to refer to as the Creed-verse. As a boxer, these small IPs will keep the universe running without relying entirely on me to get it to the finish line each and every time. I’ll be next to you.
Michael acknowledged that he was a huge admirer of Pierce Brosnan’s 1999 adaptation of The Thomas Crown Affair and has been working on a revival of the show.
“I’ve been away — pre-production, development, and shooting The Thomas Crown Affair for a year,” he stated. acting, writing, directing, and producing. It was quite a bit.
As a child, I adored the 1999 version because of Pierce Brosnan, the style, and the artwork. Since I didn’t visit museums as a child, that movie gave me a new perspective on New York. I grew up surrounded by paints and leather dyeing because my mom is an artist. I had no idea how much that influenced my taste.
I later saw the 1968 Steve McQueen version, which had split screens and a different aesthetic. MGM asked me what I wanted to do after Creed. “Thomas Crown Affair,” I said. That’s what I need.
It didn’t carry a lot of baggage. It wasn’t James Bond with wild expectations, but there was just enough time and a generational divide for me to think it was practically a unique story without its IP.
“A relaunch was not what I wanted. I desired a rethinking. In the first two movies, wealthy white men stole for amusement. Today, that doesn’t land. Ours is more intimate. The risks are greater. still has the romance and style. The queen is Ruth [E. Carter]. Adria [Arjona], Kenneth [Branagh], Pilou [Asbaek], and Danai [Gurira] make up an amazing cast.
