George Clooney is still made fun of by Brad Pitt, who beat him to an iconic movie role 35 years ago
The Moneyball actor had his Hollywood debut as the attractive J.D. in Sir Ridley Scott’s iconic film, but his friend acknowledged that he was “so irritated” that he couldn’t watch the movie for “years” because he had missed the role and the ensuing fame.
George said, “So, I was in TV,” in an interview with The Sunday Times Culture magazine. Even though I was earning a solid salary at the time, performers would say things like, “Well, I’m a film actor—I just happen to be doing TV.”
Furthermore, I made it to the last round of auditions for a part in Thelma + Louise. Brad understood it, too, mother****er.
For years, I avoided seeing Thelma and Louise because I found it annoying. His film career began with the role. The thing that could have propelled me was when he was doing sitcoms and c***. “F***!”
The 64-year-old actor acknowledged that his Wolfs co-star “gives [him] s***” over the casting snub. George and Brad are pals and have collaborated on several movies.
“Oh yeah,” he said, “he gives me s***.” However, I naturally thought it had to be that guy when I saw it.
George has admitted to playing pranks on other celebs by posing as Brad and using stationery that looked like it belonged to the Moneyball star.
“This time Brad wants to play Lestat, but they want to do [Interview with the Vampire 2], so I sent [a letter] to Tom Cruise,” he said to talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
“Brad said that Tom called him this afternoon and said, ‘Yeah, it’s cool, you can play Lestat, that’s fine, I’m OK with that,’ and he was like, ‘What are you talking about?'” Jimmy chuckled.
Additionally, Meryl Streep received a gift from the former E.R. star that “Brad” thought would be helpful.
“I sent [a letter] to Meryl Streep with a box of dialect CDs and I said, ‘This guy helped me with my accent in Troy and I think it could really help you,’” he explained.
