Those who criticize Kim Kardashian’s fashion choices don’t have to put in as much effort because someone close to her takes the task very seriously.

The “The Kardashians” star is well-known for drawing attention with her outfits on the red carpet. She regularly dons distinctive styles that are occasionally well-received by fans.

However, Kim Kardashian has received a lot of criticism from one of her four children before fashion journalists get a chance to evaluate her attire.

The oldest of Kim Kardashian’s daughters has learned to soften her blows.

The most recent episode of “The Kardashians” on Hulu transported viewers back to Kim’s 2025 Met Gala preparations. She told the cameras that North West, her eldest daughter, had paid her a visit the night before the much awaited event to lift her spirits.

The picture cut to North entering her bedroom with flowers and a balloon that said “Good Luck,” as the mother of four remembered. Kim told her oldest daughter that she was anxious about how she would look at the Met Gala, so the kind gift meant a lot to her.

Kim was unsure of her Chrome Hearts black leather dress, so North sent her a rare note of encouragement that read, “What’s the worst that might happen? Do people despise your attire? Each year, they do it. Simply said, you must leave.”

North was formerly Kim’s biggest fashion critic, thus her statement demonstrated the preteen’s development. According to the Daily Mail, she likened her mother’s 2021 Met Gala dress to a “plastic bag” and her 2023 ensemble to something she could have bought at the dollar store.

It hurt to be roasted by a young girl, but Kim previously admitted that she did not take North’s criticism of her style seriously. Her posture has since changed to one of pride, as evidenced by the scene in which she extols the virtues of her eldest daughter’s development.

After making her heartfelt gesture, Kim told North, “You’re my motivating factor,” In an interview at the Met Gala, she also gushed about her eldest daughter, saying that although North was still “a big critiquer” of her fashion choices, she had gained the ability to be more patient.

“She’s also in a really positive place right now, where it’s just like, ‘Hey, even if that’s not my style, I’m not going to critique that, just be you, and if you like that, then that’s what you should be into,” Kim explained. 

The reality TV personality defended her daughter after she received criticism for her wardrobe choices.

Not only was North a well-known fashion critic, but she was also a young girl full of originality, which some people found alarming anytime she showed it in her wardrobe choices. The Blast revealed that after her daughter wore a corset, Kim was the target of online ire.

After the preteen appeared in a TikTok video with her mother, revealing her vivid blue hair while sporting a miniskirt and a black corset top, the commotion started. The post’s usage of Destroy Lonely’s “If Looks Could Kill” as the video’s soundtrack and North’s attire alarmed many.

Kim was criticized by some for letting her daughter listen to sexual lyrics and wear clothes inappropriate for young girls, but the devoted mother defended her choice.

On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she emphasized that her daughter was well-behaved in spite of her dress choices and that she “would never take that creativity away from her.”

Concerns About North West Increased Days After the Corset Scandal

The Blast revealed that the preteen attracted extra attention after sharing a TikTok with her friends, just days after Kim defended North’s wardrobe choices. Her friends matched the theme as she flaunted her fake facial tattoos and piercings in the video.

The fact that North also wore a set of silver chains, bright blue contacts, and black grillz over her teeth infuriated many people. Critics questioned why Kim didn’t warn her kid, saying she didn’t appear like a preteen at all.

North documented the group’s journey to a performance on a private plane in a different post, which led to more criticism that they weren’t acting like typical children their age. When Kim shared a photo of herself playing dress-up with her diamond accessories in 2024, she received similar backlash.
