High school football coach mysteriously disappears as the investigation into child porn intensifies
A Virginia football coach has vanished under mysterious circumstances following a startling investigation that has come to light.
According to state police, 46-year-old Travis Turner went missing last week. On Thursday, they discovered that he was missing while en route to his home in the town of Appalachia, Virginia, which has a population of fewer than 2,000, as part of an investigation that had been mostly kept confidential.
Turner, the head football coach at Union High School, is facing five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor, following the acquisition of ten warrants by authorities on Monday. He is still at large and is regarded as a fugitive.
Prior to his disappearance, the team he coached remained undefeated and was gearing up for a playoff game. The team triumphed in that game on Saturday in his absence and progressed to the regional finals. Turner, who additionally worked as a physical education teacher, was last observed in a gray sweatshirt, sweatpants, and glasses.
“Wise County Public Schools acknowledges that law enforcement has brought charges against a staff member currently on administrative leave,” Superintendent Mike Goforth informed CNN. “The individual is currently on leave and is not allowed on school premises or to engage with students.” The district has stated its intention to collaborate with investigators.
Upon being contacted, Turner’s wife provided a statement to CNN through family attorney Adrian Collins: “We continue to pray for his safe return and for all those impacted by the circumstances of his disappearance.” We have faith that God will reveal truth and clarity in His own timing. All allegations must be handled via the appropriate legal channels, rather than through conjecture or hearsay.
Authorities report that search and rescue teams, drones, and police dogs are actively engaged in efforts to locate Turner.
