Five volunteers were slain in Sudan while delivering food, according to the IFRC
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said on Tuesday that three of its volunteers are still missing and five of its volunteers were killed in Sudan.
It was said that the five workers were killed on October 27 in the city of Bara in the central state of North Kordofan. They were wearing official vests and handing out food. There were no specifics about how they were killed or who was responsible.
It said, “We are horrified,” and it also said that three other workers were missing.
The militia Rapid Support Forces of Sudan have been at war with the Sudanese army since April 2023. This week, they took over the important city of Bara.
Activists and rights groups say that hundreds of civilians have died since the RSF made recent wins in central Sudan and Darfur.
Both sides have denied abuse claims in the past and blamed the other for committing them.
