US Vice President Vance is planning to visit Kenya, a source says

U.S. Vice President JD Vance will visit Kenya next month after a summit in South Africa, Reuters reported Monday, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

Although there were no immediate details on what Vance could discuss there, the East African country is one of Washington’s closest allies on the continent and has expressed its desire to finalize a trade deal with the United States by the end of this year.

Although the United States designated Kenya as a significant non-NATO partner in 2024, Nairobi has also had to deal with American officials’ worries over its growing ties to China.

The source said, “The visit to Kenya will run from November 24 to November 27,” but gave no further details.

Neither Vance’s office nor Kenya’s foreign ministry immediately responded to requests for comment.

Vance is traveling on behalf of U.S. President Donald Trump to Johannesburg, South Africa, for the November 22–23 Group of 20 world leaders’ gathering.

After the meeting, the U.S. will take over as G20 president; South Africa is now in a rotational role.
