Jilly Cooper, who wrote more than 12 million books, died after falling and hitting her head. She was 88 years old.
Dame Jilly Cooper, a famous author known for her raunchy romance books and the famous Rivals series, died after a fall at the age of 88, her family said.
Felix and Emily Cooper, her children, said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dame Jilly Cooper, DBE. She died on Sunday morning after a fall at the age of 88.”
“Mum was the shining light in all of our lives,” they said. She loved all of her family and friends very much. It came as a total surprise when she died. We are so proud of all the things she has done in her life, and we can’t even think what life would be like without her smile and laughter.
A literary legend, Cooper sold more than 12 million books over the course of her career. Her funny, romantic, and often shocking stories kept people reading. Her books, which were funny, sexy, and full of interesting characters, will always be remembered in British writing.
Her literary successes were praised, but she was also loved for her out-of-this-world personality, charm, and kindness to family and fans. Cooper’s death marks the end of an era in British romance stories written today.
