Mariah Carey Talks About Michael Jackson’s Unreleased Collaboration

Mariah Carey is “upset” that her unpublished Michael Jackson collaboration hasn’t been revealed.

“One of his classics,” the pop diva, who covered the Jackson 5’s 1992 hit song “I’ll Be There,” recorded a song with the late King of Pop that she hopes his estate would release someday.

Mariah, 56, has asked fans to campaign for the song’s release because she wanted to include it on her recently released album, Here For It All.

“They’re doing something really huge for him, Michael, and you know this is a song that would usurp the situation,” she said to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live this week. The fact that it won’t be included on this album makes me very sad. Every time I played it for someone, they would say, “Wow.” It’s a classic of his. I performed new background vocals and sang along with it. If someone simply gives his management a call and lets them know we’re interested in hearing this!

Together, the two appeared on Jackson’s 2001 charity single, “What More Can I Give.”

The supergroup that provided vocals included Reba McEntire, Anastacia, Nick Carter, 3LW, Beyoncé, NSYNC, Celine Dion, Boyz II Men members Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary, Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, and Usher. The album was released to raise money for the families of those affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks.

In 2009, Jackson passed away at the age of 50 due to severe propofol intoxication.

Mariah stated elsewhere that she would adore becoming the star of a future Super Bowl halftime show.

My only Christmas wish is You hitmaker told Cohen, “I think it could be amazing,” adding that he would be eager to perform a joyful show at Sphere in Las Vegas.
