Suleiman unveils Tanzania’s squad to play Zambia in the FIFA World Cup
Head coach Hemed “Morocco” Suleiman has named a 26-man Tanzanian national team roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zambia, which is set for Wednesday, October 6, at Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium.
The manager has chosen consistency as Tanzania seeks to bolster its bid in Group E by mainly sticking with the nucleus of the team that played in last month’s back-to-back qualifiers against Niger and Congo.
Notably, despite playing well in Denmark, Aalborg striker Kelvin John has once again been completely forgotten. In keeping with the transition period Morocco (pictured) is navigating, veteran strikers Saimon Msuva and captain Mbwana Samatta have both been left off the roster.
A balance of 20 domestic and six international players are included in the call-up. As one might expect, players from the nation’s best teams make up a large portion of the team. Leading the field with seven participants are Azam, followed by Young Africans with six, Simba with five, and Singida Black Stars with two.
Zuberi Foba, Azam’s stellar goalie, has received his first call-up to the starting lineup, joining Hussein Masalanga (Singida Black Stars) and Yakoub Suleiman (Simba).
