Rwanda and Egypt waive visa requirements as their relationship grows
Rwanda and Egypt, whose relations have improved recently, inked a Visa Waiver Agreement on Sunday, September 28, which will facilitate travel between the two nations.
Olivier Nduhungirehe, the Minister of State for Regional Cooperation for Rwanda, and Badr Abdelatty, the Minister of State for Regional Cooperation for Egypt, signed the deal in New York during the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
The agreement was signed after President Paul Kagame visited Cairo on September 23 and signed a number of bilateral agreements with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in the areas of urbanization and housing development, water resource management, investment promotion, and reciprocal land use.
Business leaders from the two nations convened in Cairo ahead of Kagame’s visit for the first-ever Egypt–Rwanda Business Forum, which brought together investors and businesspeople from a variety of industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, real estate, construction, and pharmaceuticals.
The $20 million Rwanda–Egypt Heart Care Centre in Kigali is currently under development, and both nations have gradually increased their cooperation in fields like healthcare, education, infrastructure, and defense.
