Fire breaks out in the old BBC television center in London

The former BBC Television Centre in London experienced a significant fire that damaged upper floors but did not result in any recorded injuries.

Early on Saturday morning, a fire broke out inside the former BBC headquarters, Television Centre, in London’s White City, prompting the deployment of about 100 firefighters.

The London Fire Brigade reports that just after 3 a.m. local time (0200 GMT), firefighters from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Kensington, Chiswick, and other adjacent stations were asked to respond to the fire at the nine-story structure.

A restaurant, external decking, and ducting have all been damaged by the fire, which has moved to the higher floors of the building. There are also worries that other apartments may have been affected.

Authorities said there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities, while the origin of the fire is still unknown. Once the center of BBC broadcasting operations, firefighters are still working to contain the fire and evaluate the damage to the iconic location.
