Drake Responds to “Fake Abs” Speculation
Drake acknowledged that he used Facetune “too hard” in a widely shared shirtless selfie.
After tweeting a topless selfie back in June, the 38-year-old rapper fueled rumors that he had undergone abdominal etching, a sort of liposuction that makes the stomach muscles look more defined. Although he has denied having cosmetic surgery, he acknowledged that the image wasn’t completely natural.
“People think you got a procedure done,” Bobbi Althoff, the presenter of the Not This Again podcast, said while she was a guest.
Drake maintained that he was certain that “ab surgery was a thing,” even if he had not had a “procedure done.”
Immediately, Bobbi inquired, “How come you know that?”
“Because people do it all the time,” Drake retorted.
People also claim that I have a BBL. They refer to me as BBL Drizzy. I’m not sure if my wagon appeared out of control when I entered. Did it?
When Drake came to film the podcast, Bobbi said that she didn’t “look” at his body.
“So then, like, if it didn’t stand out to you,” he said in closing.
Returning to the controversial selfie, the God’s Plan singer acknowledged that he had Photoshopped the image.
“I was sweating in that picture, and I had just gotten out of the gym. Perhaps I went on Facetune and posted some details,” he claimed. Just being truthful. It’s possible that I increased the saturation. I believe I struck it too forcefully. I struck it too forcefully. They don’t appear that way.
Only a few weeks before to Drake’s remarks, Big Sean denied undergoing abdominal enhancement surgery.
Fitness influencer Blake Sanburg, who goes by the handle @thenutritionnarc, posted a video of the 37-year-old rapper in which his body was examined to see if he had had surgery to increase his size.
Blake mentioned that the Mercy hitmaker has “extremely defined abs” that seem to be “sitting on top of a bubble gut” in his film, which included multiple images and videos of Sean.
He also brought up a picture of the rapper from ten years ago and came to the conclusion that Sean had either taken steroids or had his abs etched, but he also thought he had “very interesting genetics.”
Sean immediately denied the claim in a direct response to the video.
“Bro, I’m afraid mine are real,” he wrote. Though I have affection for the phony [ab] community, this is made funnier by the fact that this is how God created me.
“When I’m in bad shape, I just happen to look like a chewed-up tootsie roll, lol.
However, I am only able to speak for myself. This s*** is going out of control, so I just have to say something [tear laughing emoji] (sic).
Later on, he added two more remarks: “Nothing,” and “So just to be clear.”
In a subsequent video, Blake disclosed that Sean had sent him a direct message as well, along with a picture of the text he had written.
“I commented on your video, this s*** is funny because that’s the way I was made,” the rapper wrote in the message. As I grew older, I had to start working out more because I had recently gained Dad’s weight.
My body has endured a lot, haha. But no surgery. I can’t believe I must give an explanation. (sic)
