Kelechi Iheancho’s contract with Celtic Links is terminated by Sevilla
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho and Spanish La Liga team Sevilla have formally parted ways after deciding to end his contract.
After leaving Leicester City, Iheanacho signed a free transfer to Sevilla last summer. In the first half of the season, he made 15 appearances in all competitions and scored three goals.
The 28-year-old striker made 15 appearances for Championship team Middlesbrough on loan in January, contributing one goal and two assists.
The development was announced in a statement posted on Sevilla’s official website:
Kelechi Iheanacho, a Nigerian striker who was connected to the Nervion club until June 30, 2026, has agreed to have his contract with Sevilla FC terminated. Iheanacho ended his contract with Leicester City and joined the team last summer.
The former Manchester City forward did not make the matchday roster and has not appeared in any of Sevilla’s first three league games this season.
Iheanacho is currently being strongly linked to a move to Celtic, the Scottish Premiership winners, where he might work with manager Brendan Rodgers again.
At Leicester City, the Nigerian flourished under Rodgers’ tutelage.
