Donnarumma, the Italian goalkeeper, has joined Manchester City from PSG

Manchester City has added Italian goalie Donnarumma from PSG to their team, making it stronger since Ederson left for Fenerbahce.

After Ederson left for Fenerbahce in Turkey, Manchester City announced on Tuesday that they had signed Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a five-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

Officially, the money details were not released, but British media said that City bought Donnarumma for £30 million ($40.5 million) and agreed to sell Ederson for £12 million ($16.2 million).

Hugo Viana, City’s Director of Football, said, “Gianluigi’s background, skill, and track record speak for themselves, and we are all incredibly excited that he has joined us here at City.” “He has a lot of top-level experience and knows what it takes to be successful for a long time.”

Donnarumma could come because Ederson moved permanently to Fenerbahce on Tuesday morning. Since joining City from Benfica in 2017, the 32-year-old Brazilian had been their first-choice goalie, keeping 168 clean sheets in 372 games.

The 26-year-old Donnarumma moved to PSG from AC Milan in 2021 and was a key part of their first Champions League win earlier this year as part of a treble. In the round of 16, he stopped penalties from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones. In May, he kept a clean sheet in the 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final.

Donnarumma helped PSG make it to the final of the 2025 Club World Cup, but Chelsea beat them 3-0. Nevertheless, he lost favor at PSG when boss Luis Enrique didn’t include him in the UEFA Super Cup team after goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier joined. Donnarumma later told PSG that he was leaving, saying that the move made him “disappointed and disheartened.”

He is also leader of the Italy national team and was named Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament. A new English goalkeeper named James Trafford has started all three of City’s Premier League games this season. Hassan Abdulkadiri Faridah
