Kremlin claims that despite the midnight attack on Kyiv, it is still eager in pursuing peace talks with Ukraine

The Kremlin stated Thursday that even after Russia launched a massive and lethal bombardment on Kyiv overnight, it was still interested in pursuing peace negotiations on Ukraine.

The attack on the Ukrainian capital, which Ukrainian officials said killed at least 15 people, including four children, was Moscow’s response to diplomatic attempts to end the war, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, told reporters that both sides were still attacking one another when asked if the most recent attack and Moscow’s declared intention to advance peace negotiations were in conflict.

“The unique military action is still going on. The Kyiv regime’s strikes on Russian infrastructure, frequently on Russian civilian infrastructure, are evidently still going on. Peskov stated, “The Russian military is likewise performing its duties.

Russia, he claimed, was successfully attacking military and military-related facilities. “At the same time, Russia remains interested in continuing the negotiation process in order to achieve our goals through political and diplomatic means.”

Several times, Peskov has stated that Russia solely attacks military targets and does not intentionally target people.

Thousands of civilians have died since the war began, according to Ukrainian officials, and hundreds more have died in recent months as a result of Russian strikes on heavily populated areas.

Prior to Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have undertaken a large-scale overnight “group strike” that included high-precision air-launched missiles, drones, and hypersonic “Kinzhal” missiles to target military-industrial installations and military air bases.

As part of a broader effort by Kyiv to target the most crucial area of President Vladimir Putin’s economy, the Ukrainian military claimed to have used drones to attack two Russian oil facilities yesterday. Russia verified that a fire had been extinguished at one of the refineries that had been struck.

In response to questions regarding the refinery attacks, Peskov stated that the situation was under control and that Russia’s domestic fuel market was fully supplied.

When asked if a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine was possible, something Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has hinted at, Peskov responded that no deal had been struck on such a truce and that talks needed to be held in private.
