Victoria Kimani is the first artist from East Africa to cover glamour

Victoria Kimani’s gorgeous new Glamour Bulgaria cover spread makes her the first person from East Africa to appear on the cover of Glamour.

The Wonka singer is praised as an artist, superhero, and music mentor in the glitzy spread. As a first-generation immigrant born in Los Angeles to Kenyan parents, she talks about her diverse childhood. The piece highlights her non-linear interactions, which reflect the blending of various worlds she lives in.

Among the X-factors that distinguish her from the others are her genuineness, universal appeal, and Afro-futuristic aesthetic. She talks about how her pastor parents helped her start singing in church, which is how she got her start in music.

Kimani goes on to discuss her current and upcoming projects: the former is a music business and artistry course aimed at female African musicians in need of guidance, while the latter is a documentary series that will let viewers journey through her perspective and discover the world of African music.
