D’Tigress defeats Cameroon to reach the Afrobasket Semi-Final for the sixth consecutive year
D’Tigress advanced to their sixth consecutive Afrobasket semi-final with a resounding victory over Cameroon.
At the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, D’Tigress defeated Cameroon 83-47 on Thursday, securing a spot in the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket semifinals.
With the victory, Nigeria has advanced to the tournament’s semifinals six times in a row, starting in 2013.
The reigning champs dominated the first quarter, 21–9, making an impression right from the start. With a 41-29 lead at the break, they continued to be in charge.
D’Tigress defeated the Cameroonians 25-2 in the third quarter, making the game a one-sided fight and highlighting the class divide even more. Cameroon put up little of a fight in the last quarter as Nigeria won by a score of 36 points.
Victoria Balogun and Nicole Enabosi both contributed 12 points, while Amy Okoronkwo scored the most (18 points).
Nigeria will now play Senegal in the semi-final match on Saturday in an attempt to win the Women’s Afrobasket championship for the fifth time in a row.
