A tattoo artist asked his current wife to marry him forty-three times before she accepted.
Since 2018, marketing CEO Sarah, 38, has been the target of ostentatious proposals from Luke Wintrip, 36, including renting a castle in Prague, Czech Republic, horseback riding on a Jamaican beach, and multiple candlelit meals.
Sarah, who lives in Chelmsford, Essex, in the East of England, explained the rationale for the initial rejection to The Sun newspaper: “I just said, ‘No, we’ve only been together for six months.'”
“Even though I loved him, I didn’t want to say “yes” to something I would later retract.”
But Sarah vowed to Luke on the 42nd proposal: “I’ll say yes the next time you ask, but just wait.”
After a year, Luke took the mother of three to Greenwich, which is the location of Greenwich Mean Time in South East London, England.
At the time, he told Sarah, “I want you to marry me, and this is the center of the world.”
“He won my heart at last,” she remembered.
He ought to be awarded a Guinness World Record. I appreciate how persistent he was.
The wedding was not entirely happy, though, as Sarah struggled with discomfort and ended up in the hospital with a potentially fatal condition after a cyst burst in her groin. The wedding took place in Jamaica, Caribbean, in May.
