TV host Seth Meyers admits that he worries about his future in television

Seth Meyers worries about his late-night talk show’s future.

After The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was recently canceled, the 51-year-old comedian, who has hosted Late Night with Seth Meyers for the past 11 years, questions whether he has much influence over the show’s future.

Seth responded, “I do,” when asked if he is afraid of the show’s demise on the Armchair Expert podcast. Only because, in terms of the entertainment sector, this is the era in which we live.

“I felt like I changed from worrying that I wouldn’t be good enough to this strange thing. My concern is now strangely more uncontrollable, which is that the ecosystem may eventually stop supporting [late night].

“It’s strange to feel powerless over it, but I suppose that’s better than believing it’s your fault.”

Seth’s perspective on his TV profession has also become more philosophical.

“I sometimes think, oh, this isn’t the best time to be doing what I’m doing, but at least I got in,” he remarked. So sometimes I think, okay, I think my body of work is significant enough that people are aware of Seth Meyers in a way that I’m satisfied with. I’ve seized the chance to construct anything. I am aware of its meaning, and I believe that others are as well. Thus, I’m pleased with that.

Stephen Colbert, meanwhile, declared on July 17 that The Late Show would be eliminated.

With his final episode scheduled for May, the 61-year-old comic acknowledged that CBS has canceled his nightly chat show.

He stated: “I want to share with you something I learned last night before we begin the event. We shall have our final season next year; The Late Show will be shut down by the network in May.

“I’m not being replaced,” Stephen, who took over as leader in 2015 from David Letterman, continued. All of this is simply disappearing. The people at CBS have been excellent partners, I must say. And I want to thank all of you, the audience, who have come every night, both inside and outside, and from all over the world.
