The Beef Kings! Otile Brown Attacks Bien Due to Manager Resignation Disparities

Otile Brown, a Kenyan R&B artist, has sparked a social media firestorm after responding angrily to what he saw as Bien-Aimé Baraza’s planned insult.

Otile attacked the Sauti Sol member in a string of now-viral Instagram Stories, calling him a hypocrite, attention-seeker, and someone who was “always wanting to be seen.”

The clapback occurred just hours after Bien used his new song “All My Enemies Are Suffering” in the Instagram story, which was generally regarded as a jab at Otile’s manager, Mumbi Maina, who had announced her resignation. Bien’s choice of music immediately following Mumbi’s departure appeared to either celebrate or ridicule the internal conflicts in Otile’s camp.

Otile didn’t hold back with his retort. He wrote, “Iyo ng’ombe ilikua lazima ecomment… always got sum’n to say,” alluding to Bien without specifically mentioning him. “Dress well na uwachane na kubeba makuku stingo za kishamba, hakuna authenticity apo,” he said, making fun of Bien’s sense of style and calling it inauthentic.

He mocked Bien’s conceit and attacked his credibility abroad, saying, “International my 🍑… Hamniwezi na rudia mimi. Grammy mi siwatambui ata muwin. “Iyo ng’ombe sitambui ii ndio reason.” In a subsequent post, he added, “Ni mnafiki mkubwa,” indicating that he no longer holds Bien in the same regard.

The two musicians have previously argued in public, despite the tension appearing abrupt. Otile made the contentious claim last year that there were “no international artists in Kenya,” to which Bien vehemently retorted before apologizing and then taking it back.

The underlying tension was there, yet that prior argument seemed to fade. It gets thrust back into the spotlight with this most recent episode.
