Trump Warns of Imminent Sanctions on Russia’s Partners and Sets New 10- to 12-Day Deadline for Ukraine Deal

Trump’s visit to Scotland suggests an impending statement, threatens sanctions, and gives Putin 10 to 12 days to reach a settlement on Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump has given Russian President Vladimir Putin a new ultimatum, saying that Moscow now has “10 or 12 days” to accept a peace accord with Ukraine or risk more severe economic repercussions.

Trump stated that he would make an official announcement on the subject “tonight or tomorrow,” implying that new measures may be implemented immediately, during a high-profile meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.

Trump told reporters that there was no more need to wait. “Enough waiting has been done. If Putin disagrees, we will take swift, decisive action.

With this most recent speech, Trump’s rhetoric on the current war in Ukraine has sharply increased. Only two weeks ago, he gave nations that still deal with Russia a 50-day window to assist push for a resolution or face “very severe tariffs.” Now, it seems like Trump’s impatience is causing that timeline to fall apart.

Additionally, the US president proposed that Russia’s main trading partners, especially those who were thought to be uncooperative in resolving the conflict, be subject to secondary sanctions and increased tariffs.

Trump’s first formal visit to the UK since the Labour leader assumed office is the meeting with Prime Minister Starmer at Turnberry. Although the conference was characterized as “productive” by both parties, the main topics of discussion were post-war reconstruction, Ukraine, and international security.

Trump is scheduled to speak with John Swinney, the first minister of Scotland, later on Monday about trade, NATO alignment, and Scotland’s involvement in future US-UK cooperative projects.
