GloRilla Says, “I Wasn’t Busted,” in Response to Felony Drug Arrest
The artist took to social media to share her version of events.
The Memphis rapper was jailed on felony narcotics charges, and GloRilla gave her version of events. The Grammy nominee used X on Thursday, July 24, to provide her account of what transpired during the purported property invasion that may lead to prosecution against her.
She called her millions of followers “CRAZY.” “My home was invaded on Saturday while I was in Indianapolis playing in the WNBA All-Star Game, and they chose to focus on some cannabis rather than identifying the suspects.”
She went on to explain: “1. So no, I wasn’t busted 2. 3 robberies occurred at my place. I was not at home. To cut a long tale short, my house was broken into, and I was the only one arrested. That, therefore, is tea.
Due to felony drug possession, the 25-year-old was taken into custody on Tuesday. The rhymer of “Yeah Glo!” turned herself in and was set free on a $22,000 bail.
Despite claiming that GloRilla was broken into, her team blamed the entire incident on law enforcement and said that the offenders were not apprehended. Three guys tried to break into the Memphis rapper’s house and left after someone inside shot them, prompting the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to respond. Police reportedly requested a search warrant once they arrived and smelt illegal drugs.
When police searched, they discovered “a significant amount of marijuana.”
The arrest of Gloria Woods, according to her attorneys Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling, “is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become.”
“Ms. Woods was out of town when a bunch of home invaders targeted her residence, probably knowing she wasn’t there. They were unaware that she was hosting family members who had been frightened by the group’s forceful entry, took expensive jewelry, and fled when they discovered the house wasn’t empty.
VIBE has requested a statement regarding the arrest from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
