Caitlin Clark’s return to Fever has no set timeline

The Indiana Fever will announce when Caitlin Clark is ready to make her comeback after her third injury of the season.

There is currently no schedule for Clark’s comeback from a right groin injury, so she will be sidelined until further notice, including Thursday’s home game against the Las Vegas Aces.

Out of 24 games, Clark has only appeared in 13. She was sidelined for two weeks due to a left groin ailment after missing three weeks due to a left quad strain. There had been a short respite from the trainer’s room when she returned.

The Fever trailed the sixth-place Aces (12-11) by half a game going into Thursday’s play (12-12).

After losing to the Liberty by 14 points in New York on Tuesday, Indiana canceled a planned shootaround for Thursday morning. They will now play Las Vegas. Along with the team, Clark visited New York and talked with physicians.

Reminding herself that she is mortal, Clark noted during the media conferences that the wave of injuries was unexpected and that she missed last weekend’s WNBA All-Star Game.

“This is the first time I haven’t felt like a young body that can run around and sprint every day and just continue to do that,” Clark stated. “Being a professional athlete, you really have to take care of both your body and your mind — it’s been a journey learning about that.”

Clark’s shooting slump, which she attributes in part to her leg ailments, persists despite her average of 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. She is only shooting 36.7 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from three-point range this season.
