Chelsea’s Kepa signs a three-year deal to join Arsenal
Kepa Arrizabalaga, a Spanish goalkeeper, was bought from Chelsea by the Premier League squad on Tuesday. The team reportedly exercised a five million pound ($6.86 million) release clause to acquire the world’s most expensive custodian, according to the media.
Kepa, 30, joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for 71 million pounds, and has been on loan for the last two seasons after winning the Europa League in 2019, the Champions League two years later, and the Club World Cup in 2022.
Kepa helped Real Madrid win both La Liga and the Champions League with 20 appearances during the previous season.
In the Premier League the previous season, he was also Bournemouth’s regular custodian.
Before joining Bournemouth in August, Kepa extended his Chelsea contract until 2026 and agreed a three-year deal with Arsenal, where he would wear the number 13 shirt and support David Raya, according to British media reports.
