Giroud is back in Ligue 1 with Lille

French striker Olivier Giroud is anticipated to join Lille in Ligue 1 after leaving Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles FC.

The 38-year-old is France’s all-time top scorer with 57 goals.

He played for Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan before joining LAFC last year.

He helped the squad win its first Open Cup by scoring in the September final.

Halfway through the MLS season, LAFC announced Giroud’s departure last week.

Giroud, who has retired from international football, told reporters on Sunday after playing his final game for LAFC, a 1-0 league loss to Vancouver Whitecaps, that “I think this club (Lille) ticks a lot of boxes for me and my family.”

We will also play (in the) Europa League, which excites me and is a really good thing. Lille is a major club in France. The top five
