Lizzo Drops New Mixtape Featuring Doja Cat And SZA
Lizzo has released “My Face Hurts From Smiling,” a mixtape starring SZA and Doja Cat.
With 13 new songs, the About Damn Time hitmaker returns after her recent freestyle, Yitty on Yo Tittys, providing a “no-holds-barred reintroduction that sets the tone for summer and solidifies Lizzo’s place in hip-hop.”
With Crashout, the humorous diva sends a strong message to her detractors: “They just mad ’cause I got motion like a roller coaster.”
SZA shines on IRL, and rap sensation Doja spits on Still Can’t Fuh, demonstrating how Lizzo has enlisted her friends for the project.
Lizzo and SZA had been releasing teasers from the studio while working on a mixtape, and had previously collaborated on a 2023 remix of Lizzo’s song Special.
One of SZA’s Instagram Stories posts was labeled, “Working on a guest star for bookie Lizzo’s new mixtape [heart emoji].”
SZA discussed their friendship with Lizzo in a 2023 interview with UPROXX, saying: “Me and Lizzo have been friends since, like, 2013, but it was very organic and very random.” We were on the same tour one day when I said, “We’re going to drive out to Lake Michigan. Would you like to come?” Then she said, “Yeah, let’s go.” We continued to get out and get drunk after that, and as our lives and occupations developed, we continued to chat and spend time together. I stopped by her residence the other day. My stomach ached from overindulging, so she handed me a muumuu. We did nothing except lie in the yard, and I thought, “Yeah, this is what the f*** friendship is about.”
The Grammy winner acknowledged finishing her new album, Love in Real Life, in March.
Lizzo recently vented her rage about criticism of her new music, claiming that unfavorable comments about her song “Still Bad,” which was her first single from Love in Real Life, are “lazy.”
