Angola Hammer South Africa will continue to hold the Copa Cup title
Angola defeated South Africa, the hosts, 3-0 in Sunday’s 2025 final at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein to win the COSAFA Cup again.
Angola now has five COSAFA titles with their recent wins, which ties them with South Africa and are only topped by Zambia (seven) and Zimbabwe (six). Ime Okon’s looping header gave South Africa a near-goal halfway through the first half as it rebounded off the crossbar and out to safety.
When Depu’s thundering header from a free kick handed Angola a single tournament record seventh goal, they took the lead. The previous record was held by Ovidy Karuru, who scored six goals for Zimbabwe in 2017.
To give his club a 2-0 lead and boost his season tally to eight goals, Zini crossed low into the box. However, the Angolan was not done yet, as he side-footed in from ten yards out just after the hour.
Depu increased his career goal total in the COSAFA Cup to 13 after winning consecutive Golden Boots. Felix Badenhorst of Eswatini, who finished second, has four more than that.
