Wydad AC verifies Contact of Cristiano Ronaldo

Wydad Athletic Club has acknowledged that they asked if Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo was available.

The Moroccan football powerhouses were reportedly interested in the 40-year-old forward, who is regarded by many as one of the best football players of all time.

Wydad strengthened their roster during the most recent transfer window, which saw them connected to Ronaldo, in preparation for their participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.

Hicham Ait-Menna, the president of Wydad, stated during a news conference that Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn’t have come for the money because he doesn’t need it.

“It is true that three and a half or four months ago, I asked one of his agent friends, ‘Wouldn’t he want to play in the Club World Cup?'” “Listen, I don’t think so,” he said.

“Real discussions for this player never took place. Although we would have preferred to have him, we couldn’t have afforded the cost of his services.

Since his current contract with Saudi powerhouse Al Nassr is about to expire at the end of this month, Ronaldo, who most recently led Portugal to the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League championship, is anticipated to extend it.

Wydad’s Club World Cup Group G schedule includes matches against English powerhouse Manchester City (June 18), Italian football powerhouse Juventus FC (June 22), and UAE team Al Ain (June 26).
