Jonathan Davis will play Snoop Dogg in the biopic

Jonathan Daviss has been chosen to play Snoop Dogg in the rap artist’s planned biography.

The 25-year-old actor, who is most known for portraying Pope Heyward in the Netflix drama Outer Banks, has been cast in the film’s starring role by director Craig Brewer, according to Deadline.

Snoop, Brian Grazer, and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker are producing the next film.

Snoop’s journey from modest beginnings in Long Beach, California, to the pinnacle of the rap industry is examined in the biopic.

Along the way to becoming famous, Snoop joined the Death Row record company in the 1990s and collaborated with Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre, two of the greatest rap artists of all time.

Snoop is currently among the best-selling rap artists of all time, having released his debut album, Doggystyle, in November 1993.

What’s My Name? The singer has also had success in other areas, appearing in films like Training Day and Half Baked and publishing his own cookbook, From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen.

The 53-year-old rapper has also gained notoriety for his creative and outlandish ventures, such as the introduction of the Leafs By Snoop line of cannabis products.

Jonathan, who previously acted in Do Revenge with Camila Mendes, Sophie Turner, Maya Hawke, and Austin Abrams, will now play Snoop in the much anticipated biopic.

Actually, the project has been in the works for a while; back in 2022, Snoop was named as a producer.

“I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen, and the memory I’m trying to leave behind,” is what he said in a statement at the time.

“The marriage was ideal. It was not holy macaroni, but holy matrimony.

The proposal also intrigued Universal’s chairwoman, Donna Langley.

Snoop was praised by the 57-year-old Hollywood mogul as a “singular artist.”

According to her, Snoop Dogg is one of the most fascinating and significant figures in popular culture because of his life and legacy.

We had the chance to hear Snoop’s narrative in his own words when we visited with him soon after he acquired Death Row Records. Being able to produce this unique artist’s enduring record humbles us.

Straight Outta Compton, an Oscar-nominated film that made over $200 million, was a tremendous hit for Universal in the past.

In addition to showcasing some of Snoop’s best-known songs, the planned biopic will mark the debut of Snoop’s Death Row Pictures, which he purchased in 2022.
