Ric Flair claims that this is his second battle with skin cancer in three years
Ric Flair is returning to the ring, but this time he faces skin cancer once more. The wrestling icon announced on Friday that he is facing the disease for a second time.
“This is the second time in three years that I’ve been facing skin cancer,” Flair shared with People. “Next week, I will be starting my treatment.”
The 76-year-old initially resisted reports regarding his health on Thursday but took the opportunity to clarify the situation the following day.
This recent diagnosis contributes to an expanding array of health challenges Flair has encountered in recent years. In 2017, he had surgery to address a bowel obstruction, which led to a number of serious complications, including kidney failure. In 2022, he asserted that he experienced a heart attack during what was promoted as his last match.
Revered as “The Nature Boy,” Flair stands out as one of the most celebrated legends in wrestling history. He rose to prominence in the ’80s and ’90s with Jim Crockett Promotions and World Championship Wrestling, ultimately cementing his legacy in WWE.
He once held the record for the most world title reigns (16) alongside John Cena, a record that Cena exceeded this past April. Flair’s impact is so significant that he has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on two occasions—first as an individual and then as a member of the legendary Four Horsemen faction. He has received recognition from both the NWA and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.
As he prepares for yet another battle, Flair’s legacy demonstrates that he has always been one to stand his ground.
