Mr. P of P Square: I No Longer Think of Twin Brother Family

Secrets, deception, and a split family.

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, aka Mr. P, has said that he has broken up with his twin brother Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, and his older brother Jude Okoye. He says that they have betrayed him and his family deeply.

Famous for being half of the breakup band P-Square, Peter has taken to X to vent his anger over new information in an alleged money laundering case involving Jude that involves more than ₦1.38 billion (about KSh 114.4 million).

After being the first witness for the prosecution, Peter spoke out against false information spread by a lawyer working for the defense. 

He has reaffirmed his dedication to telling the truth after being accused of misleading the court. “I used to think that family should never steal from family, but now I see that loyalty, not blood, defines true kinship,” he wrote.

After keeping quiet for more than 20 years to keep the peace, Peter has said that he feels bad about it and that this strategy almost killed him. 

After putting his mental health first, he has promised to stop being the “bigger person” in a bad family situation. “Since I cut ties with them, my mental health has come first. Any cost above that is too high,” he wrote.

In response to a fan’s call for peace, Peter has stayed firm, saying that real family doesn’t take advantage of or manipulate others. 

Peter said that keeping quiet for 20 years had almost cost him everything. He used the example of the late singer Mohbad, whose controversial death in 2023 showed how dangerous it is to be quiet. 

“I’ve decided to speak out because I’ve learned that real love doesn’t trick and true loyalty never betrays,” he said.

Peter’s comment has brought up tensions that have been building since P-Square broke up in 2017. It started new conversations about the Okoye family’s long-standing feud. Even though Peter briefly saw Paul again in 2021, he said that the current legal processes involving Jude have made problems even worse. 

As the case has gone on, Peter has seemed set on moving forward. He put his peace of mind ahead of family ties that he now thinks are broken forever.
