The Super Eagles defeated the Reggae Boyz to retain the Unity Cup trophy

Nigeria’s Super Eagles won the Unity Cup after defeating Jamaica 2-2 in 90 minutes and 5–4 in a penalty shootout.

Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon scored the Super Eagles’ opening and second goals, respectively.

Felix Agu, a full-back for Werder Bremen, Chrisantus Uche, a midfielder for Getafe, and Frederick Benjamin of Brentford all made their debuts in the game.

Jamaica missed one of their four attempts at a spot kick, while the Super Eagles attempted five attempts, with Uche scoring the game-winning kick.

Earlier Saturday, Ghana’s Black Stars secured the third-place play-off spot with a 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago.

Although the Black Stars dominated the game and created more scoring opportunities, the Super Eagles were worthy winners.

Conversely, Jamaica was more defensive and relied on counterattacks.

The Super Eagles dominated the first few minutes of play before Simon’s right-wing stabbing goal of Cyriel Dessers’ cross gave them the lead in the ninth minute.

But three minutes later, Jamaica equalized thanks to a fantastic low cross from Kaheim Dixon on the left.

Chukwueze put the score at 2-1 in the 53rd minute.

The AC Milan forward received the ball from Nathan Tella, drove into the area, and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.

After 63 minutes, Jonathan Russell gave Jamaica a second chance to equalize the score by smashing home another cross from the left flank after he had been left unmarked inside the box.

The Super Eagles’ Bruno Onyemaechi, Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Kelechi Iheanacho scored the game’s goals, which were finally decided on penalties after the two teams couldn’t agree on a conclusion.
