Is Diddy Going to Be Pardoned? Trump Talks About It
President Trump discusses Diddy’s legal issues at a recent press conference, saying he would “consider the facts” if asked about a pardon.
The legal issues surrounding music entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs were addressed by Donald Trump. A reporter asked Trump at a recent news conference if he would think about pardoning Diddy if his legal troubles were worse.
The reporter pointed out that you had previously stated in 2012 that Diddy was a close friend. “Do you think you could forgive him?”
Trump didn’t sidestep the query. “Well, no one has inquired. “Peter, you had to ask, but no one has,” Trump remarked. “I believe that many have been on the verge of asking.”
The President went on to say that although he hasn’t kept a close eye on Diddy’s circumstances, he would be open to reviewing them. “I would examine the current situation,” he stated. “Whether someone likes me or doesn’t, it wouldn’t affect me if I believe they were mistreated.”
Trump admitted that he and Diddy had once been close, but that their friendship had worsened after he got involved in politics. “I think that relationship ended when I ran for politics, but he used to really like me,” he remarked. “I came across some mildly offensive statements in the paper.”
Trump has the power to grant federal pardons in his capacity as president. It’s unclear if Trump will take action or if Diddy’s legal troubles will escalate to that point.
