SuperSport United’s fate will be determined on Thursday
SuperSport United and Lamontville Golden Arrows will finish their postponed match on Thursday, marking the end of the 2024–25 Betway Premiership season and the relegation struggle within it.
Officials halted the two teams’ game on February 23 after the first half was completed due to load shedding at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The PSL declared that, with the score tied at 1-1 at the time of play suspension, the match will resume from the beginning of the second half on May 29 at the same location.
SuperSport has everything to play for in the final forty-five minutes of the match, while Golden Arrows, who have already guaranteed their safety, don’t really care about the match.
Cape Town City is one point ahead of Matsatsantsa a Pitori, who are in the relegation zone. To stay in the Betway Premiership the following season, they will need to win or tie; if they lose, they will be forced to play in the PSL Promotion Playoffs alongside Casric Stars and Orbit College. They would advance to the Motsepe Foundation Championship if they lost these playoff games.
