Mane was released from the Senegalese team prior to the friendships between England and Ireland

Sadio Mane has requested to be excused from the two friendly matches, meaning he will not participate for Senegal against England and Ireland in the upcoming internationals next month.

On Tuesday, Coach Pape Thiaw announced a 26-man roster, with Mane noted as the only major absence.

“It’s a personal decision that is his private matter, and I respect that as a coach,” Thiaw stated during a press conference.

Mane, aged 33 and with 111 caps for his west African nation, has faced criticism for his recent performances with Senegal, which secured a victory against Togo in World Cup qualifying matches but ended in a draw with Sudan in March.

Mamadou Lamine Camara, a midfielder who secured the African Confederation Cup on Sunday with his Moroccan team Renaissance Berkane, was among Thiaw’s recent signings.

Seven players, among them Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, have rejoined the team after being absent from the March qualifiers.

On June 10, Senegal is set to face England in Nottingham, while on June 6, they will take on Ireland in Dublin.
