Blankets & Wine Reveals Their Star-Studded June 2025 Edition Lineup

On June 29th, Blankets & Wine will launch its 2025 season with a spectacular event at Laureate Gardens, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

In addition to celebrating the 16th year of supporting established and up-and-coming African talent throughout Kenya, the continent, and beyond, the event promises to be an amazing day of music, art, and culture.

Two exciting stages will provide a diverse array of African sounds and styles at this edition of Blankets & Wine. For what promises to be an incredibly immersive experience, fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible through Mookh.

Mi Casa, a soulful house group from South Africa known for international successes like “Jika” and “Tulale Fofofo”—their contagious collaboration with Kenya’s very own Sauti Sol—will be the main stage’s main act. Matata and Ssaru’s performances, which combine Gengetone, Afrobeats, and jaw-dropping dancing, will also showcase Kenya’s thriving music scene. We Are Nubia, an Afropop/R&B duo with lovely harmonies and rhythm, and rising talents Shad Mziki, who give a soulful pop experience, join the program alongside Serro, the strong vocalist known for giving Kenyan folk a modern touch. Renowned Tanzanian vocalist Saida Karoli will transport audiences to traditional Tanzanian rhythms, Bongo Flava, and Taarab. With his trademark dancehall-infused enthusiasm, Joshua Baraka, a Ugandan breakout artist, will ratchet up the heat.

From day to night, festival attendees can anticipate a carefully organized exploration of electronic African music on the Onja Onja Stage. DJ IV and Bune will be presenting exciting Amapiano and Afro-house sounds, while Akoth Jumadi & Mr. Lu will perform live with their soul-stirring Afro-fusion sound and Coco Kahi will merge hip-hop, electronica, and Afro influences seamlessly. Additionally, Ghedi x Hiribae x Paps will perform an electrifying b3b set on stage, and DJ Ite will delve deeply into alternative Afro-house music.

“We’re thrilled to open the 2025 season with such a phenomenal lineup for our loyal Blankets & Wine community,” said Blankets & Wine creator Muthoni Drummer Queen in a statement prior to the festival. We are providing an event that is full of culture, connection, and value with two stages and 17 outstanding African musicians.

In a significant step forward, Blankets & Wine will be traveling to the UK for the first time. In collaboration with the British Council, the festival is scheduled to take place in Lister Park in Bradford City on September 6, 2025, as part of the UK/Kenya Season 2025. This is a major global expansion, showcasing African and Kenyan artistry.
