Cardoso is assured before the pivotal second leg

Before their second leg matchup against Pyramids FC on Sunday, head coach Miguel Cardoso of Mamelodi Sundowns thinks his team has what it takes to win the CAF Champions League final.

Walid El Karti’s goal in the 94th minute helped Pyramids salvage a draw at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, even though Lucas Ribeiro had given Sundowns the lead in the 54th.

“Clearly, a 1-0 score is not equivalent to a 1-1 score. However, it’s only halftime. Thus, we have two more parts to play out of the four. After the first leg, Cardoso stated, “Obviously, it’s going to be a different game.”

Cardoso thinks Masandawana can finish the job, even though the outcome at home was disappointing.

“We have the strength and ability to go there and fight alongside them.”

“We are aware that it is open. He declared that the team with the best record in the second game will undoubtedly win the trophy.

The Portuguese player used his team’s arduous run to the championship game as inspiration to complete the task and bring home the trophy.

Because it took a long time to get here, just have faith. It’s time to choose the appropriate energy to move forward, not to give up. Just to move forward, as we would still need to continue and have ninety minutes to do so if the match was a single final and it ended in a 1-1 draw,” he stated.

The second leg, which will take place on Sunday at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, will be crucial for both teams because the overall score is tied.
