Blankets & Wine Reveals Their Star-Studded June 2025 Edition Lineup
The 2025 season of Blankets & Wine will begin with a spectacular event on June 29 at Laureate Gardens, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Marking the 16th year of supporting African artists, both established and up-and-coming, throughout Kenya, the continent, and beyond, the event promises to be an amazing day of music, art, and culture.
Each of the two exciting stages at this edition of Blankets & Wine will provide a diverse range of African sounds and genres. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible for what looks to be an incredibly immersive experience, and they can be found on Mookh.
South Africa’s soulful house duo, Mi Casa, will take center stage. They are well-known worldwide for their infectious collaboration with Kenya’s own Sauti Sol and their classics like “Jika” and “Tulale Fofofo.” With their performances that combine Afrobeats, Gengetone, and jaw-dropping dance, Matata and Ssaru will also showcase Kenya’s thriving music scene. Alongside rising artists Shad Mziki, who offers a soulful pop experience, and We Are Nubia, an Afropop/R&B combo with lovely harmonies and groove, comes Serro, a powerhouse performer known for giving Kenyan folk a modern touch. Taarab, Bongo Flava, and traditional Tanzanian rhythms will be explored by the renowned Tanzanian singer Saida Karoli. Joshua Baraka, a Ugandan breakout artist, will ramp things up with his trademark dancehall-infused enthusiasm.
Festival attendees can anticipate a carefully organized exploration of electronic African music from dawn to dusk on the Onja Onja Stage. Akoth Jumadi & Mr. Lu will perform live with their soul-stirring Afro-fusion sound, Coco Kahi will merge hip-hop, electronica, and Afro influences seamlessly, and DJ IV and Bune will provide exciting Afro-house and Amapiano tunes. Additionally, DJ Ite will delve deeply into alternative Afro-house music, and Ghedi x Hiribae x Paps will perform an electrifying b3b performance.
Before the festival, Blankets & Wine creator Muthoni Drummer Queen expressed her excitement, saying, “We’re excited to open the 2025 season with such a phenomenal lineup for our loyal Blankets & Wine community.” We are providing a culturally diverse, connection-filled experience with two stages and 17 outstanding African artists.
Blankets & Wine is taking a significant step ahead by traveling to the UK for the first time. As part of the UK/Kenya Season 2025, the event is scheduled to take place in Lister Park in Bradford City on September 6, 2025, in collaboration with the British Council. This is a major international expansion that will bring attention to African and Kenyan artists worldwide.
