Why Baba Levo Thinks Rayvanny, Marioo, and Harmonize Will Be the Next Sauti Sol
A new band is what Baba Levo desires!
Former WCB Wasafi label musicians Harmonize and Rayvanny have been persuaded by Diamond Platnumz’s confidant Baba Levo to team up with Marioo to create a musical trio akin to Kenya’s Sauti Sol.
Shortly after the trio collaborated on the song “Pere” last weekend, he made his announcement.
Harmonize, Marioo, and Rayvanny are unquestionably some of the top musicians in the Bongo Fleva scene right now, and their fans were thrilled when they joined forces to create a single song.
After hearing the trio’s collaboration, Baba Levo, a fan of their music, suggested that they combine their talents and start a band similar to Sauti Sol.
“I think it would be a really smart idea for my fellow young people, Rayvanny, Marioo, and Harmonize, to form a band. They ought to emulate Sauti Sol. Baba Levo told them, “Music like #Pere is much needed in the street.”
After joining WCB Wasafi in 2015, Harmonize departed in 2019. After quitting Wasafi, he founded his own record company, Konde Music Worldwide.
However, Rayvanny left WCB Wasafi in 2022 to concentrate on his musical company, Next Level Music, after joining the group in 2016.
Although both have previously been contracted to record labels, their counterpart began his musical career as a songwriter, penning songs for musicians such as Gigy Money and Nandy before releasing his first single, “Dar Kugumu,” in 2018. His career as a solo performer was launched in part by this single.
Because of their ability to stay together for more than 18 years before determining that each member had outgrown the band and that it was time to pursue their careers as solo artists, Sauti Sol has emerged as a model for many up-and-coming musicians throughout Africa.
Beginning as a high school a cappella group in 2005, Sauti Sol evolved into a band in 2008.
Mwanzo (2008), Sol Filosofia (2011), Live and Die in Afrika (2015), Afrikan Sauce (2019), and Midnight Train (2020) are some of the albums they have published during the course of their eighteen years.
Although the band has not put a permanent end to the group, they have formally announced that they will take a hiatus in 2023 to concentrate on separate projects.
Even though they are no longer a band, they still give their fans a heartfelt performance every year called Sol Fest.
