RSB Berkane claims CAF Confed gold In Zanzibar

The 2025 CAF Confederations Cup was won by RSB Berkane after a 3-1 aggregate victory in the Amaan Stadium on Sunday night, despite a strong showing by Simba on their own soil.

Joshua Mutale was in the center of every forward move made by the home team as Simba controlled the first few minutes of the game.

During the first quarter, Simba showed their attacking intent right away with Berkane sitting back.

Then, in a moment that had Simba fans stand up, Mutale scored in the 17th minute when the driven player was discovered unmarked at the far post.

The cooling break gave the visitors some reprieve during extended defensive pressure, but Simba kept pushing the game to RSB Berkane throughout the first half.

Berkane gave the home team a few issues, especially in aerial confrontations, despite Simba’s aggressive zeal. However, Simba led at the half’s conclusion.

Yusuph Kagoma was given his second yellow of the game in the 50th minute, forcing Simba to troubleshoot.

In the 73rd minute, the home team believed they had tied the score, but Shomari Kapombe’s attempt was called off after a VAR assessment for offside.

After the traveling team was given the benefit of the doubt, Soumaila Sidibe equalized in the 93rd minute to give Berkane a 3-1 lead, dealing Simba a severe blow during injury time.

However, Berkane’s late goal saw the Moroccan team take the new CAF Confederations Cup trophy, therefore Simba’s comeback was unsuccessful.
