Chelsea and Manchester City secure UCL spots while Manchester United denies Aston Villa

Manchester United crushed Aston Villa’s aspirations on the thrilling final day, while Chelsea and Man City secured Champions League spots.

Chelsea and Manchester City qualified for the UEFA Champions League on the last day of the 2024–25 Premier League season, while Manchester United’s victory over Aston Villa prevented the latter from participating in Europe’s premier league.

Manchester City joined Champions League winners Liverpool and runners-up Arsenal after winning 2-0 against Fulham to secure third place. With a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, Chelsea guaranteed their spot back in the competition.

Even though Newcastle United lost to Everton 1-0 at home, Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa guaranteed them fifth place and a spot in the Champions League. Despite a contentious goal that was disallowed, Villa’s loss put them in sixth position and earned them a spot in the Europa League.

Morgan Rogers’ goal for Villa was disallowed because United’s goalie had committed a foul. This judgment caused controversy and prompted Villa to file an official complaint.

Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen’s goals sealed the victory, as Manchester United completed the season on a high note despite ending in 15th place.
