Modiba: A victory at home against the Pyramids is crucial

Mamelodi Sundowns will host Pyramids in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, and Aubrey Modiba has emphasized the significance of making the most of home advantage.

Since winning their first title in 2016, the Brazilians have had to wait nine years to compete in the final, and they are trying to win the African championship for the second time.

Despite winning only two of their five games in Pretoria from the group stages on, Miguel Cardoso’s team is undefeated at home in the competition this year.

Additionally, Masandawana has struggled to score, managing just three goals in front of their home crowd. They also played to 0-0 draws against Al Ahly in the semi-finals and AS Maniema Union on matchday 1.

Pyramids, who have a flawless record in Egypt this season and are a very different side from the one they played in the Champions League the previous season, offer a threat that Modiba is cautious about.

Pyramids FC is a strong squad that has performed well both at home and abroad, so we anticipate a difficult matchup,” the left-sided player stated. “On that day, we simply need to put in a lot of effort and try to win the game in front of our home crowd.

A few talented players from the last squad we faced in 2023 have been signed by them. They are in the final, which, in my opinion, explains why they have more competitive experience today.

“They are a successful squad that is vying for the league crown with Al Ahly even in their home league. They are performing well as a team that has undergone significant development.
