Nigeria’s APC promises closer ties with China and supports the one-China principle

The APC acknowledges Taiwan as a part of the People’s Republic of China and reiterates its support for the One-China concept.

Recognizing Taiwan as an essential component of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its unflinching commitment to the one-China policy.

Comrade Mustapha Salihu, the APC National Vice-Chairman (North-East), stated in an interview in Abuja on Wednesday that the party fully supports the diplomatic position of the federal government.

“Nigeria is firmly committed to the One-China Principle,” he declared. As a result, in diplomatic affairs, the APC’s policies and tenets would be similar to those of our federal government.

“China is an important ally of our country; they see us as equals, not inferiors. This viewpoint encourages a partnership based on mutual advancement. Thus, it makes sense for the government to back the one-China idea.

“As a party, we stand resolutely behind the one-China principle,” Salihu said, reaffirming the APC’s strong support for the government’s diplomatic initiatives.

He highlighted the benefits of diplomatic ties between China and Nigeria, especially in the areas of investment, trade, and infrastructure development.

“Our collaboration with China has produced significant outcomes,” he stated. With corresponding support from the Chinese government, we have seen Chinese enterprises build vast highways, bridges, and railroads.

Furthermore, Chinese institutions have provided full or partial funding for projects like the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) natural gas pipeline and other free trade zones in Nigeria. Chinese companies are keen to set up shops and factories in Nigeria, and many of them are already boosting our economy,” he said.

The APC administration’s business-friendly policies, like as changes to the Companies and Allied Matters Act, which have simplified procedures for investors, he said, are responsible for the surge of foreign investment in Nigeria.

He stated that the party is prepared to work with the Communist Party of China (CPC) to improve human capital development, trade, education, and cultural exchange.

“We are committed to promoting reciprocal development and strengthening our longstanding partnership,” he stated.
