Marcos of the Philippines requests that cabinet secretaries step down in order to reset the government

The office of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Thursday that the president’s request for resignations from all cabinet secretaries is a “bold reset” that will allow him to restructure his administration to better satisfy the public.

The comprehensive order was issued just over a week after the administration’s disastrous midterm election, which many interpreted as a vote against Marcos’ leadership.

Marcos said in a statement released by the Presidential Communications Office, “This is not about personalities — it’s about performance, alignment, and urgency.”

“We will honor those who have delivered and will continue to deliver.” But we can’t afford to sit back and do nothing. Comfort zones are obsolete.

As he entered the second half of his one six-year term, Marcos’ failure to achieve a landslide of Senate seats for his friends indicated a split legislative environment.

In what many perceived as a proxy war between the two camps, candidates who supported his estranged vice president, Sara Duterte, scored better than anticipated.

Marcos declared, “This is not business as usual.”

“The public has spoken and wants results, not just platitudes or politics. We will take action after hearing them,” he declared.

According to a March Pulse Asia survey, Marcos’s popularity has drastically decreased, with only 25% of Filipinos now supporting his performance, compared to 42% previously.

Duterte, in contrast, had a much higher approval rating of 59%.
Despite the fact that inflation has returned to the central bank’s goal range of 2% to 4% since August, the government’s perceived inability to control it has contributed to a decline in public trust.
