Kim Kardashian During the Paris Burglary Trial Tells the Robber She “Forgives Him”
In 2016, the 44-year-old reality star was held in her French hotel room and had $10 million worth of jewelry stolen from her. When she appeared in court on Tuesday to face defendant Aomar Ait Khedache, she said that she “appreciated” him writing her a letter of apology soon after his arrest, even though she wasn’t aware of it at the time, but that the whole “traumatic” event had changed her life anyway.
She told the judge, “It’s clear I’m upset about it; this event changed my life and the lives of my family.”
“In the U.S., I work in the justice system because I really want to be a lawyer and help people get justice.”
“Thank you very much for the letter.” I’m grateful, and I forgive you.
“But that doesn’t change how I feel, what happened, or how my life has changed because of it.”
Not long after she asked for forgiveness, the suspect gave her a note around the time the trial took a short break.
It said, “Your forgiveness is a torch that has lit my path…” I will always be grateful.
It is said that Khedhache, who is deaf and mute, was one of the two guys who put a gun to Kardashian’s head during the heist.
Judge David De Pas read the letter to the court. In it, Khedache said he wasn’t asking Kardashian to “forgive” him, but rather to know how much he “regrets” what he did.
“Madame,” he wrote, “I decided to write to you after seeing you on a French TV show and seeing how upset you looked. I realized how badly I hurt your mental health.”
“Not in order to be forgiven… I want to tell you one-on-one that I’m sorry for what I did and that seeing you cry touched me. I’m sorry I made you, your husband, your kids, and the people who love you hurt.
“You can’t change the past, but I hope this letter helps you forget the bad things that happened because of me.”
Kardashian also said that she “absolutely did think [she] was going to die” and that one of the thieves picked her up and dumped her on the bathroom floor, where her mouth was taped up.
“Then I waited a few minutes because I wasn’t sure if they were going to get something and come back, but I didn’t hear anything after that.”
“I was able to take off the tape, and then I went downstairs to find her stylist, Simone.”
The star of “The Kardashians” was with her older sister Kourtney during the heist and “prayed” for her family because she thought her sister was going to see her get shot.
“That’s when I was sure they were going to shoot me,” she said.
“So I said a prayer for my mom, my sister, and my best friend.” I hoped their lives would go well after that.
It would be Kourtney who saw me get shot to death on the bed and would always remember that.”
At the same time, Yunice Abbas, another suspect, wrote the book “I Held Up Kim Kardashian.” She told the judge that it “wasn’t fair” for him to do that.
“I was really shocked when I saw there was a book,” she said.
‘Not only did he do this, but he’s also making money off of it. My jewelry, my memories, and the watch my late dad gave me when I graduated from high school. That’s gone for good.
“It wasn’t just jewelry…” Someone erased my memories, and now he’s making money by writing a book? I thought it wasn’t fair.
Since the theft, the founder of SKIMS has been going to therapy to help him or her deal with the stress.
“I had to change my life,” she said. If I called out to someone coming up the stairs and they didn’t answer, it would make me cry because it made me think of that time.
“Aside from that, I try to be strong and protective, and my house has a lot of security. Even if other people think it’s too much or silly, that’s what I need to feel safe and sleep, and I’m fine with that.”
